Deep in the Heart of Dundalk

Sung to the tune "Deep in the Heart of Texas"

This is a parody song I put together around 1990 that has been a part of my reparte for a long time. While cleaning out some old folders I came across the orgiinal lyrics I wrote out (this was before my first computer). Ihave "fine tuned" it over the years changing the lyrics to give it more of a Bawlmer flavor, rearrange the lyrics to improve the flow of the song and as in real world I had to change K-Mart to WalMart.

I actually got to sing the first two lyrics of this song on the Don & Mike Show back in April 2001, I have a MP3 of it you can hear. That a friend of mine recently found for me. And if you want to see the original lyrics just click here.

This song is not to not meant as a slight or mockery of Dundalk, but in the spirit of fun that those of us in Baltimore share. If we can laugh at ourselves then we are in big trouble folks so enjoy it as it is intended, a family joke if you will.

Oh! I knows were to go,
to get a cold Natty Boh,
Deep in the Heart of Dundalk!

Lots sidewalks to stroll,
a thousand lanes to bowl,
Deep in the Heart of Dundalk!

Dem guys in DC balk,
at the ways we’s talk,
Deep in the Heart of Dundalk!

It’s the accent you know,
even if you live in the Poconos,
Deep in the Heart of Dundalk!

Our lifestyle’s an art,
youse can get it at WalMart,
Deep in the Heart of Dundalk!

Livin’ in Bawl-mer’s fun,
youse just call everyone Hon,
Deep in the Heart of Dundalk!

This ain’t the Florida Keys,
but it sure beats Milwaukee,
Deep in the Heart of Dundalk!

How’s about that Hon?
