Faded Forgotten Glory

While going through an old album to find a Turn Back The Clock photo I found a memento of a long forgotten moment of glory from over a quarter century ago. I actually had to stop and think: "What did I ever win First Place in?" When I removed the ribbon I read the tag on back then I laughed to myself: "How I left this one out of my repartee of stories is beyond me."
The story of how I won this is lost to even my ability to recall. But from what little that I can recall and simple logic I won this in the seventh grade at the St. John's School Olympic Day in 1979. In retrospect it baffles me that I, a bespectacled-overfed-leaping gnome, would have won first place in a game that today is considered to one of the most detrimental to a child's ego. But it appears that I must have kicked some righteous "Jediesque" moves that day. But the again, I am supposedly a member of The Sith. |
